The main element of Doom 2099 that kept readers coming back for more was the mystery behind the protagonist's true identity. Very good: Something went wrong. That was pretty awful. All hail ... President Doom?! The first part of the book is a bit slow and muddly, probably because it's putting a pre-Ellis storyline to bed; but once it gets going, what good fun.
