But now we do get to a great track: their cover of “Come Together”. Edit Release All Versions of this Release New Submission . PC2 35564; Vinyl LP). It’s got atmosphere and epicness that is absent from the more rocking other songs I like it a lot. ), Toys In The Attic (1975, 11 Mill. And “Toys in the Attic” and “Last Child” are both on the meh side of things. My brothers had it growing up so I heard it a lot back then. Now so far the album has been pretty patchy quality-wise, but it is with the next song (“Sight For Sore Eyes”) and beyond that things get a lot more consistent. I’m not sure I’d call it a favorite either.
I agree on point number one. Recorded earlier than the rest of the songs on the album, they’re not bad but they’re definitely not what I’d be putting an Aerosmith album on for. Lots of good performances, Heavy Metal Meatload. Now if it were any other song getting in-between me and my “Train Kept A Rollin’” I’d be rather unhappy, but “Draw The Line” is definitely worth of inclusion on this album, sporting the best riff of the bunch. I prefer both Alive I, Double Live Gonzo, At Budokan, Live At Leeds, Allman Brothers Filmore, If You want Blood, etc. And, perhaps out of characterly, I would too.Now when I first read the tracklist I jokingly wished that “SOS” was an ABBA cover, but now having heard it I’m glad that it isn’t. Thought the live album was a good summary.I only like very specific applications of talk box, like in Frampton’s “Show me The Way”. They really nail this one. But maybe I need to see if I remember it correctly and give it another listen. The great Holen MaGroin is always working hard to try and introduce me to new music. The original release is a dense, in-your-face collection of barnstorming concert cuts. It’s not the best live album for sure, but it’s interesting to hear them so sloppy and raw. Yuck. It is completely live though, so I’ll give it that. Aerosmith was my first concert back in 1979 and Live Bootleg was my favorite album when I was growing up. Bootleg, Steven Tyler. It is a good summary, just not the best versions.Song of the Week: Beyond the Realms of DeathNow at 17 songs, and from a band I’m not a huge fan of, this is an album I’d rarely ever reach for, but I’d still enjoy it more than I wouldn’t if I ever did put it onThings start with a song called “Back in the Saddle”. The War and Treaty's Journey Toward Hope It’s often up in the air what my response will be and they’re ranged from “alright” to “this is so good I’m going to make a mix CD full of it”. I could go on about the group’s faults — that they don’t play heavy metal nearly as well as a half-dozen other bands I could name, and that even as cartoons, these guys are nowhere near as funny as Alice Cooper used to be — but it wouldn’t matter. The harmonica on the former song is fun though. Live! “Mama Kin” is the same, though with a slightly inferior chorus.Yes it’s good for sure. Song quality does take a noticeable dive with the next song though. The vocals are rough but still passable, especially as the highlight of the song is the guitar-work in the chorus. It’s good. “Sight For Sore Eyes” rocks hard and has one of the best choruses of the album. With the passage of time, even the truly monstrous becomes bearable, maybe even enjoyable in a perverse sort of way. What Aerosmith has gotten is a lot slicker — in the studio anyway.
We now get a curious duo of quite funky songs next with “I Ain’t Got You” and “Mother Popcorn”.
Bootleg is a double live album by American hard rock band Aerosmith, released in October 1978. © 2020 Penske Media Corporation I recommended this to Harrison because all he’d heard was Big Ones.
