Coming from someone who previously went to a much larger university and got lost in the crowd. PLEASE do not go to Algoma University. The only thing I will say is that because of the way our courses run (every 1, 2, 5 or 10 years) there are time where a lot of your courses are reflecting similar content and it feels like all of your course content is the same even though it truly is luck of the draw it can be slightly annoying for individuals who prefer more diversity. The class sizes allow for a great teaching dynamic where classes are able to actually discuss and be immersed in content. It has truly helped my mental health.It was convenient and close to home. I am currently working in a research lab in soil ecology, and have a close relationship with most of my professors. While waiting to hear back I sat down with my parents and made a pros and cons list of all the schools I had applied to with all possible factors. I'm excited for my next 2 years at the school but at the same time I don't want it to end !! All of our programs offer undergraduate research opportunities and hands-on learning. I am currently a 4th year student in the Sociology Program at Algoma University. I will never forget the relationships that I've built with faculty, students and administrative teams. The smaller size of the program made it easy to gain valuable experience through volunteering, research, and summer jobs.
